Amanda Mark is a senior financial markets executive with over 20 years experience in the private and public sector. She has extensive experience and knowledge in financial market development, market infrastructure, regulation and supervision having held senior management roles with international and Australian firms.
Most recently (Jan 2009 - July 2013) Amanda was a Senior Manager at the Australian Securities & investments Commission (ASIC) in the Market & Participant Supervision team responsible for surveillance of market operation and trading activity, market participant conduct, participant supervision and market development.
Amanda was instrumental in the transfer of supervision for domestic licensed markets to ASIC in August 2010, along with the launch of competition in trading in October 2011 via the ChiX market operator launch. She was responsible for market participant relationship management and market regulatory development including the Market Integrity Rules.
Prior to ASIC Amanda was Head of Cash Equity Operations at UBS AG in Sydney, Head of Australian Equity Operations at Morgan Stanley Australia and Head of the Client Service Group at Morgan Stanley & Co in New York, USA.
Amanda is passionate about Market Integrity. Her unique background allows her to understand the business drivers of the market while balancing the need for regulation. She has experience on both sides of the fence, the regulator and the regulated.
Andrew Tait has a has a unique blend of international markets experience – more than 18 years worth – in senior roles covering market integrity oversight and surveillance, enforcement and trading, both in the private and public sectors. This experience allows Andrew to both understand and contribute quickly to the market integrity issues faced by market participants.
Andrew was most recently with ASIC (2010 – 2013), where he was Senior Manager of the Market Integrity Rules (MIR) enforcement team - a specialist group of investigators, analysts and lawyers – which filed proceedings against market participants before the Markets Disciplinary Panel (MDP) for potential breaches of the MIRs. Andrew was also a member the key Markets Triage Committee, a decision-making body set up to determine which matters warrant referral from the Surveillance to Enforcement.
Andrew also played an important role in the development and implementation phases of the FAST (Flexible Advanced Surveillance Technologies) project – a new market surveillance technology developed by First Derivatives (FD) – designed to help ASIC regulate in a fast changing market environment. The remainder of Andrews time at ASIC was spent as a Senior Market Specialist, advising on a number of key ASIC priorities, including the transfer of market supervision from ASX to ASIC and competition in markets via the entry of Chi-X.
Prior to ASIC, Andrew has had a number of senior markets roles, including Deputy Head of Compliance & Head of Investigations at IntercontinentalExchange (ICE) Futures Europe, Director of a private commodity derivatives trading fund, Lead Compliance Advisor for products at British Petroleum plc and Executive Officer in the financial sector team at the UK Office of Fair Trading's Mergers & Acquisitions (M&A) group.
