ASIC urges immediate cyber resilience uplift amid AI-driven threats
ASIC has issued an urgent call for all licensees and market participants to strengthen their cybersecurity measures as artificial intelligence (AI) models begin to accelerate the speed and sophistication of cyberattacks. ASIC emphasised that cyber resilience is a core licensing obligation that boards and executives must oversee, rather than treating it solely as an IT issue.
Licensees and market participants are encouraged to immediately reassess their cyber plans, protect critical assets, and implement defence architectures to mitigate risks like rapid vulnerability exploitation and increasing insider threats.
ASIC reminds firms that cyber controls must be demonstrably effective and proportionate to their business size, and formally tabled at the highest levels of board and risk governance. Read more here.
